Devlog 3 - "Ready to start production!" 2.0


Another week, another devlog. Let’s get into it!

 

First off I want to mention that last week we didn’t get the green light to move our project into production, so we had to refine our prototype some more, and
that’s what we did!

 

The first thing that we modified was the way how you kill enemies. Before you had to grab them and carry them to the siege, but we now changed it so that you have to hit them, and they will automatically fly to the grinder on the siege.

 

Next up we added the siege’s abilities. The siege has three abilities in total:

  • Speedboost: the siege will go faster for a bit
  • Fireball: the siege will shoot out a fireball, destroying and killing everything in its path
  • Groundshock: the siege will shock the ground, and kill all the enemies close around it.

The abilities can be activated at any time, but will cost some fuel. Abilities have a cooldown, and there can only be one ability active at a time.

 

We also implemented a couple of events that happen through the world:

  • Road block: the road could be blocked by a large tree, you need to cut it down in order to advance.
  • Arrow rain: in a random area on the map, a rain of arrows will appear, and the players need to make sure that they aren’t in that area to prevent being damaged. This will only damage players and enemies, so it won’t damage the siege.


Lastly we also made the prototype world a bit more interesting, as we played around a bit with the world layout, and we put more trees as you go towards the edge of the world. We also made the gnomes spawn from a mushroom, as that makes more sense than to let them spawn from thin air :D
