Devlog 8 - Polish sprint!
Heya everyone!
So we kinda forgot to write a devlog last week, so we’ll have to cover two weeks now.
Last week marked the end of our production sprint 2. Now we’re in our last sprint, the polish sprint.
This means that we can’t add any new features, but only make them better.
So, what happened?
The big thing that we did last sprint is we added all the animations to the players, enemies and the siege engine. This made everything look a lot nicer already!
Below are some gifs of all the animations, in a demo scene to show.
So to start off this new sprint we started off by making a lot of effects and adding those to the game. For example we made a nice chopping effect on the stones, so that some smaller chunks would fly off. We noticed that this not only made it look much nicer, but also gave a neat feedback to the player to indicate that they did in fact chop the stone.
We also finished implementing the HUD textures into the game. Everything looks really nice now, see for yourself:
On the programming side of the game, we also had a very frustrating bug with the standard Unity input when you had multiple controllers connected at once. We fixed that now already, by using an external library. We hope to never see that bug again!
So that was pretty much it for this week’s devlog, by the end of this sprint we’re planning on making everything much better by e.g. adding screen shake, controller rumble, and of course, sounds!
